With imaginative children’s workshops, the Acropolis in LEGO® bricks, treats and many more surprises, the Acropolis Museum will welcome visitors on 19, 20 and 27 December 2015.
Acropolis Museum lucky charm
The Acropolis Museum lucky charm for 2016 is a design by Alexandra Tsoukala inspired by the magic marble sphere that was discovered near the Theater of Dionysus. It shows the God Helios (Sun) on a throne, a lion, a monstrous figure and various ‘magic’ symbols. The ball appears to have been used in rituals in the hope that its magical powers would lead to good and bring happiness.
Christmas and New Year melodies
The program includes Christmas and New Year tunes from the Philippos Nakas Conservatory Orchestra and Choir and the Hellenic Air Force Band, on Sunday 20 December, at 12 noon, and on Sunday 27 December respectively.
Samothrace. The mysteries of the Great Gods
The temporary exhibition “Samothrace. The mysteries of the Great Gods” is on until 10 January 2016 and gives visitors the opportunity to learn about the most famous ‘mysteries’ in antiquity and the relationship between the ancient Greeks and their gods. Entry to the exhibition is free.
